When you think about Route 25 it reminds me of the Famous Route 66. While Route 66 connected several states and cities and remains a part of Americana, NY25 is an important Route that connects the city to the country at 105 miles long. From the Skyscrapers of New York to the country of Nassau & Suffolk to the Farmlands and Vineyards of the North Fork to the Ferry at Orient Point, this established highway also connects to other famous highways as well such as the Interstate 495,278 and 678 as well as the Grand Central Parkway, Sunken Meadow Parkway And the Cross Island Parkway. It is safe to say that NY Route 25 connects millions to everyday life.

An Interesting take of NY Route 25 is the names of the actual highway do change. Going from West to East, Starting in Manhattan at 2nd avenue, it first goes over the Queensboro Bridge then onto a major portion of the city roadway called Queens Blvd in a area called Long Island City, fitting since once you across the bridge, you do arrive on the island of Long Island. The Road name changes to Hillside Avenue & Braddock Avenue around the Cross Island parkway area. At this point approaching Eastern Queens and entering Nassau County it becomes Jericho Turnpike all the way into mid Suffolk County where it becomes Main Street at Smithtown NY. From Smithtown to Riverhead NY it alternates between Middle Country Road and Again Main Street In downtown Riverhead. Once you leave downtown Riverhead it becomes Main Road.

It is safe to say that the majority of New Yorkers along with the untold millions that have traveled and visited New York over the past nearly 100 years have at one point used this important highway. It brings people together in many ways. That's why there is a website dedicated to it and we decided to have a online news site dedicated to NY Route 25!
